I am employed currently as a community development practitioner for the department of social development.I am the primary contact point between the department and the communities more especially vulnerable communities. Part of my duties are working with youth within the community in groups and organizations as well as individuals. I organize and facilitate workshops aimed at addressing key issues identified by community members through consultation with community members. I organized and facilitated capacity building workshops for both income generating and non-profit organizations within communities.
I mapped and profiled household within communities and quality assured them as we as enter them in to the computerized system. I also profiled communities that the department provided services to, to assess their needs. I identified vulnerable household within the communities that were generating income through small business but required assistance called household initiative. I organized and facilitated numerous awareness campaigns within the communities about critical issues within the community to teach members about various services provided by various governmental departments.
I organized and facilitated numerous dialogues between communities with various stakeholders within the community on board. I acted as a supervisor for three year now in the absence of a supervisor in my office and am responsible for supervision of two employees. I ensure that their performance agreements are signed and submitted by the beginning of every financial year. I supervise my subordinates by ensuring that their duties are are performed in accordance with their performance agreements and receive the necessary support. I monitored numerous income generating projects as well as non-profit organizations to ensure their compliance with policies of government such as public financial management act. I also ensure that compliance with policies is adhered to and those in contravention are accountable to the relevant authorities.
I worked as a correctional officer for the department of correctional services at a maximum correctional center from 2005 to 2008. I was responsible for the the safety of all inmates in prison. I transported inmates to hospitals and courts when the need arises. Involved inmates in rehabilitation programs such as anger management.
